New born baby with this lesion on the scalp. How would you manage? What risks of melanoma developing here? No other lesions elsewhere.
Another case from a colleague

A moderately sized off centre congenital nevus on the scalp without satellitosis or other congenital nevi elsewhere. Risk of melanoma less than 1% lifetime. MRI scanning probably not indicated. Will follow up if possible but they are heading to the Sunshine Coast. These sometimes fade with time. The link I gave above to the discussion at the Maui derm meeting should answer any other questions you have. Some nice photos supplied by Paul Martin of another case which I would have had an MRI scan done.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Case 3 there was an excellent Pediatric Dermatoscopy clinic at the last Mauii Derm meeting . I have cut out the discussion on Congenital Nevi. It runs for about 14 mins, a bit slow for the first 4 mins then it warms up with details relevant to this case. You can view it at This Dropbox link
ReplyDeleteWorth a look.
